Brad Keselowski started the week strong, earning the pole position for the Consumers Energy 400 at Michigan International Speedway. Keselowski went on to lead 66 of the 200 laps, and the 2 Crew found themselves in third place after Stage 1.
After running in the top 10 for much of the day, BK saw his car spin out in Turn 4 of lap 117. That caused him to pit and grab four new tires. Diligent effort and a fantastic car helped Keselowski move into the top 10 by the time the race hit lap 143.
Unfortunately, Keselowski ran low on fuel in the final laps and was forced to make a late pit stop. The necessary move saw him drop from third to 19th. The result wasn’t what the 2 Crew wanted, but Keselowski fared better than the 19th-place result indicates.
“Man, I want this one so bad. We got that flat tire early on and we recovered and got up to third there in the late stages and then we just ran out of gas. That is just the way it goes sometimes.”
