Keselowski last drove this chassis to a victory at Bristol Motor Speedway in March.

No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger in 2012… After 11 points-paying events, Brad Keselowski and the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger team are ranked 12th in the 2012 driver point standings and 13th in the owner point rankings. The team is coming off a 15th-place finish in the Bojangles’ Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway last Saturday night.

Pennzoil Victory Burnout Challenge… Brad Keselowski will participate in the 2012 Pennzoil Victory Burnout Challenge on Saturday, May 19 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The fifth-annual event, known as NASCAR’s version of a “slam dunk contest,” with the sport’s top talent showing off their post-win celebration abilities in classic NASCAR tire-smoking burnouts, precedes the Sprint Showdown and All-Star Race and has become a fan-favorite staple in the weekend’s activities. Keselowski will compete against four other drivers, including Penske Racing teammate AJ Allmendinger, as they perform their best 30-second freestyle burnout in identical stock cars prepared by the Richard Petty Driving Experience. Keselowski will compete for a chance to win a $10,000 donation to his favorite charity – Checkered Flag Foundation. A text-to-vote opportunity by the fans will advance the top-two drivers to the final voting round where a panel of celebrity judges will determine the 2012 champion.

Pit Crew Challenge… At 7 pm on Thursday night at Time Warner Cable Arena in downtown Charlotte, N.C., the No. 2 Miller Lite pit crew will compete for the 2012 Pit Crew Challenge championship. The Miller Lite crew consists of Ben Brown – Front Tire Changer, Scott Reiniger – Front Tire Carrier, Braxton Brannon – Jackman, David Mayo – Rear Tire Changer, Larry Robinette – Rear Tire Carrier and Nick Hensley – Gasman.

Miller Lite Punch Top Can… With a successful legacy as innovators in the beer market, Miller Lite has debuted a new innovation in the Punch Top Can. This new can features a second tab to be opened for a smoother pour with less glug. To help launch this new campaign, Keselowski will be featured in a national television advertisement for the Punch Top Can that will be seen, most-notably, during the NBA and NHL playoffs.

It’s Miller Time… The featured tag line on the rear bumper of the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge this weekend in Charlotte is “It’s Miller Time.” One of the most-recognized marketing slogans in recent memory, “It’s Miller Time” can be found within many popular culture references. MillerCoors decided to bring back the slogan last month.

The Rest is History… Penske Racing made its first start in the NASCAR All-Star Race in 1991 when Rusty Wallace drove the No. 2 car to a seventh-place finish. In 32 combined starts, Penske Racing drivers have recorded two wins (Ryan Newman – 2002, Kurt Busch – 2010), eight top-five and 16 top-10 finishes in the non-points paying event. Sam Hornish Jr (2009) and Brad Keselowski (2011) have both scored victories in the Sprint All-Star Showdown to earn a spot in the All-Star event.

Brad Keselowski on this weekend’s All-Star race
“One of my all-time favorite races has to be the 1992 All-Star race – the first race under the lights at Charlotte. There was a lot of skepticism about whether you could light a mile-and-a-half racetrack, but they were able to do it and they put on a hell of a show. I was a Kyle Petty fan growing up so I was a little bummed at the finish but, to me, that finish epitomizes this race. Banging fenders and wrecking for the checkered flag. I mean, it’s for over one million dollars! When someone asks me what race they should go to first, one of the first ones I mention is the All-Star race. This race will make you a fan.”

Crew chief Paul Wolfe on how All-Star weekend differs from a points-paying weekend
“This weekend is all about two things: winning and putting on a great show for the fans. This is aggressive, hard-nosed racing from the drop of the green flag, so we’ll have to give Brad a car he can use to do that. I feel that we have one of the best drivers in the garage for this type of racing. He can definitely be aggressive when he needs to be and he is becoming better and better at getting around Charlotte. It’s just a fun weekend, even more so that we are locked in and don’t have to run the Showdown. With the speed we’ve shown at the intermediate tracks this season, I really feel like we can get Mr. Penske another All-Star trophy this weekend.”

After spending much of the evening running two laps down due to early contact with the outside wall, Keselowski and the team battled back to salvage a lead-lap finish that could pay dividends later in the season.

Keselowski began the 367-lap event from the 15th position based on his qualifying lap of 27.500 seconds, or 178.822 miles per hour, around the egg-shaped, 1.33-mile oval during the Friday afternoon qualifying session.

As the race began, Keselowski quickly began to show the strength of his Miller Lite machine as he and the No. 14 car driven by Tony Stewart were the only cars to immediately pick up positions over the early laps. He radioed to crew chief Paul Wolfe that his car was handling slightly tight entering the Darling Raceway corners, and it demonstrated the same level of looseness on corner exit. Overall though, Keselowski was happy with the car’s performance around the tricky oval.

In what has become the norm during the 2012 season, the Bojangles’ Southern 500 featured a long, green-flag run to start the event that resulted in several pit stops under green. Wolfe called his driver down pit road for the first time at lap 47 for four tires, fuel and a slight air pressure adjustment while running in the 15th position. Following the cycle of pit stops, Keselowski found himself inside the top 10 for the first time. He radioed that the car felt great following the stops as he began to turn some of the fastest laps on the racetrack.

The racing groove around Darlington is unlike any other on the Cup Series circuit as drivers run just inches off the outside wall through the high-speed corners. At lap 64, Keselowski made significant contact with the wall in the center of Turns 3 and 4, which tightened the handling of the Miller Lite Dodge. The long, green-flag run meant Wolfe and the No. 2 crew had no opportunity to make the necessary repairs and, as a result, Keselowski began to free fall through the field. Air pressure and track bar adjustments were the only prescriptions the team could make to try and alleviate the tight-handling condition on the ailing Dodge. During a lap 98 pit stop, Keselowski lost one lap to the race leaders.

The first caution flag of the night came at lap 172, nearly halfway through the event. Wolfe called Keselowski down pit road twice for repairs to the right front fender and the rear decklid of the Miller Lite Dodge. With the repairs made, Keselowski restarted the race from the 30th position at lap 180, positioned two laps down to the leaders. He radioed that the repairs had a positive impact on the handling of the No. 2 machine, but he was running on the same lap with few other cars so he couldn’t make up any positions on the scoring pylon.

During a lap 297 caution period, Wolfe called for Keselowski to remain on the track to pick up a “wave around” pass that would earn the team one lap back. This strategy would only work if another caution flag came out quickly, giving the team the opportunity to make the pit stop they had just sacrificed. At lap 206, just three laps after the race resumed, that caution fell the way of the No. 2 team and Keselowski was able to come down pit road for four tires and fuel.

Running only one lap down, a determined Keselowski raced his way into position for the “Lucky Dog Award,” which he received when a caution flag was displayed at lap 331. This placed him back on the lead lap and in position to garner a solid finish. A final caution flag at lap 361 ensured that the race would finish under a “green-white-checkered” flag scenario. Keselowski was able to race his way into the 15th position as he took the checkered flag on a night that showed the strong mental makeup of everyone on the Miller Lite team.

Penske Racing teammate, AJ Allmendinger, finished 33rd in Saturday night’s Bojangles’ Southern 500.

“I don’t know how we finished 15th,” said Keselowski. “I’m going to go watch a tape of that. I think we had a top 15 Miller Lite Dodge; I just tore it up early in the run. I got loose and hit the wall pretty good. (I) felt pretty lucky to get 15th out of the day. We kept working on it and had great strategy and between the two, we got a great run out of it. This is what great teams do, they rally from adversity and we were able to do it tonight.”

Following Sunday’s event, Keselowski and the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge team are ranked 12th in the Sprint Cup Series driver point standings and 13th in the owner point rankings.

Keselowski and the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge team will next race at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 19, in the Sprint All-Star Race – a non-points event. Coverage will be seen live beginning at 7:00 pm EST on SPEED. The race will also be heard on the Performance Racing Network and Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 90.

The finish, while marking his best series finish at the “Lady in Black, is Keselowski’s fifth top-five finish of the season.

Keselowski began the 147-lap race from the 13th position after posting a lap of 28.974 seconds, or 169.725 miles per hour, during the Friday morning time trials. The race began with a quick caution period at lap two, which kept Keselowski from getting a true reading on the handling condition of his Snap-on Dodge. As the race resumed at lap nine, Keselowski was able to quickly work his way toward the top 10, despite a tight-handling condition on entry and exit of turns 1 and 2. Another caution flag at lap 26 gave crew chief Jeremy Bullins an opportunity to make adjustments to the air pressure and track bar of the Snap-on machine. Keselowski restarted the race from the eighth position at lap 42.

The 2010 series champion began patiently working his way through traffic, while also turning some of the fastest laps in the field. Keselowski entered the top five at lap 66, and would remain there for much of the race. He radioed to Bullins that the handling was much-improved on corner entry, so the crew chief elected to make only a slight air pressure adjustment as Keselowski visited pit road, under the green flag, at lap 91.

As the race moved into the final 50 laps, Keselowski noted that he was now dealing with a loose-handling condition, which forced him to excessively use his right rear tire. This resulted in the loss of two spots as he fell back to seventh before the third caution of the day at lap 127. More air pressure adjustments by Bullins had a positive impact on the vehicle’s handling and Keselowski quickly made his way back inside the top five.

A late-race caution at lap 143, which was a result of the race leaders tangling on the restart immediately in front of the No. 22 Snap-on Dodge, sent the race into a green-white-checkered, overtime period. Keselowski restarted the race in the third position at lap 150, and he crossed the finish line in the same position two laps later.

Penske Racing teammate, Sam Hornish Jr, finished fourth in the VFW Sport Clips Help a Hero 200 on Friday night.

Following Friday night’s result, Keselowski and the No. 22 team are now ranked eighth in the NNS owner point standings.

“Well, you know this is a short race here at Darlington so you know at the end you’ve got to really fight hard,” said Keselowski. “You don’t have a lot of laps to get it done earlier than that. I'm proud of our effort with the Snap-on Dodge to get a solid finish out of it. We want to win these races so we’re going to keep pushing but this is still my best Nationwide Series finish at Darlington and that’s progress and I’m thankful for the hard work of everybody on my team.”

The No. 22 Discount Tire Dodge team will next compete at Iowa Speedway on Sunday, May 20, with driver Parker Kligerman, in the Pioneer Hi-Bred 250. Coverage will air live beginning at 1:30 pm EST on ESPN. The race will also be broadcast on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 90.

Keselowski last drove this chassis to a fifth-place finish at Phoenix International Raceway in March.

No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger in 2012… After 10 points-paying events, Brad Keselowski and the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger team are ranked 12th in the 2012 driver point standings and 13th in the owner point rankings. The team is coming off its second victory of the season in the Aaron’s 499 at Talladega Superspeedway last Sunday afternoon.

100 Starts, By The Numbers… This weekend’s event will mark the 100th Cup Series start for Keselowski. In that time span Keselowski has picked up six Cup Series wins, 15 NASCAR Nationwide Series victories (17 total), one NNS championship (2010) and over 261,000 Twitter followers.

Most-Recent Cup Winner… Keselowski led a total of 10 laps in last weekend’s race at Talladega Superspeedway to pick up his sixth-career Cup Series victory. In the process he became the first driver since the debut of the two-car tandem draft to score the win after taking the white flag with the lead. With two wins on the season, Keselowski currently holds the No. 1 wild card spot for the 2012 Chase for the Championship.

Miller Lite Punch Top Can… With a successful legacy as innovators in the beer market, Miller Lite will debut a new innovation in the Punch Top Can this week.

2 Miller Lite Dodge this weekend in Darlington is “It’s Miller Time.” One of the most-recognized marketing slogans in recent memory, “It’s Miller Time” can be found within many popular culture references. MillerCoors decided to bring back the slogan last month.

The Rest is History… Penske Racing made its first start at Darlington Raceway in the 1972 Southern 500. The organization immediately began to show that it would be a force on the 1.3-mile oval. In their first eight races at Darlington, Penske Racing drivers recorded two wins (both by Bobby Allison) and never qualified outside the top-10. In 64 Darlington starts, Penske Racing has posted two wins, two poles and 19 top-five finishes.

Brad Keselowski on this weekend’s race at Darlington Raceway
“Darlington is one of my favorite tracks. I wish we had more like it on the schedule. It’s just a tough, old racetrack that is nothing like anywhere else we go. I never had the opportunity to race there when the asphalt was worn out and I would have loved that. Hopefully I’ll have a long career and I’ll be able to see it get back to that ‘slipping and sliding’ racing that used to be so cool to watch on TV. Back in the day, the Southern 500 was one of our biggest races. It would mean a lot to me to have that trophy.”

Brad Keselowski on what his second win means to his season
“Getting two wins this early in the season really takes the shackles off what we are able to do over the remaining races before the Chase for the Championship. Right now we are outside the top 10, but that is our No. 1 goal. Knowing that two wins will probably get us in the Chase means we can take some chances and go for wins without really having to pay too close attention to the points. That doesn’t mean we can just throw caution to the wind, but we can be aggressive when we feel like we have the car to do so. I like being able to do that.”

Crew chief Paul Wolfe on preparing for Darlington Raceway
“It’s always a challenge to run at Darlington. There is a fine line of racing other people and racing the track. You need to find a good race pace and work on handling to keep the car turning from the center out to corner exit. People get in trouble by racing each other too hard and the ‘Lady in Black’ will reach out and grab you. Race hard and race the track and you will put yourself in contention for the win at the end of the night. We’re bringing our Phoenix car this weekend and we had good results with it earlier in the year. Hopefully we can dance with the ‘Lady in Black’ without stepping on her toes.”

The No. 22 Snap-on Dodge Challenger in 2012… Following eight points-paying events, Keselowski and the No. 22 Snap-on Dodge team sit ninth in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) owner point standings following a 16th-place finish last weekend at Talladega Superspeedway.

Keselowski Climbing the Charts… By taking the checkered flag in the 2011 season-finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Keselowski claimed sole possession of 15th place on the NNS all-time wins list with 17 victories. Keselowski is now three wins away from tying Greg Biffle for 14th place on the all-time list.

Keselowski Speedway Stats… In 105 speedway starts in the Nationwide Series, Keselowski has accumulated nine wins, 47 top-five finishes, 66 top-10 results and six pole awards. In addition, he has led the field for 1,714 laps at tracks between one and two miles in length.

30 Years Strong… In celebration of their 30-year partnership, Snap-on will be the primary sponsor of the No. 22 Penske Racing Nationwide Series entry for four races this season, beginning this weekend at Darlington.

Family Tradition… Brad is not the first Keselowski to compete at Darlington Raceway in NASCAR competition. His uncle, Ron, started 34th and finished 40th in the 1972 Southern 500 after experiencing engine issues.

Pick 22 To Win… Discount Tire, America’s largest tire and wheel retailer, and NASCAR champion driver Brad Keselowski, are providing an exciting way for race fans to follow the action and win great prizes with the Pick 22 to Win online sweepstakes. At pick22towin.com fans select where Keselowski and his No. 22 Discount Tire Dodge Challenger will finish in a designated Nationwide Series race. There are 15 separate Nationwide Series races for fans to participate in for a chance to win free sets of tires and great autographed Brad Keselowski race gear.

Brad Keselowski’s thoughts on this weekend’s race
“I’ve never really had the success, or luck for that matter, in the Nationwide Series at Darlington like I have in the Cup Series. I’ve had some very fast cars, but we’ve never been able to get good finishes. A good finish is what we need this weekend. We’ve only had one race this year where we didn’t have a car that, I felt, could compete for the win. Yet here we are without a victory. We aren’t panicking, but at the same time we know what kind of a team we have on the Snap-on Dodge. This year is starting off eerily similar to last season when we didn’t get a win until Kentucky. I’d rather get this season going earlier, as in this weekend. It would mean a lot to me if I could go to Victory Lane at Darlington, a place where names like Petty, Yarborough, Pearson and Earnhardt have won.”

Crew chief Jeremy Bullins on this weekend’s race at Darlington Raceway
“Darlington is one of our historic tracks. It’s kind of like going to a night game at Fenway Park or Lambeau Field. Everybody who is anybody has raced and won on that layout. So going there gives you a cool, old-school feel. The track is fast, it’s narrow and the racing is about as intense as you will find on the circuit. It’s the kind of track that should lend itself to Brad’s talents and hard-driving style. Everyone looks forward to competing there. Hopefully we can get this No. 22 team back to it’s old winning ways this weekend.”

The victory marked the first for Penske Racing at the 2.66-mile oval and the first for Dodge since Dave Marcis won for the manufacturer in August of 1976.

Keselowski began the event from the 13th position based on his qualifying lap of 50.381 seconds, or 190.072 miles per hour, around the TSS oval during the Saturday morning qualifying session. When the green flag flew to start the event, the field immediately began to race in packs, instead of the two-car tandem that had come to define restrictor-plate racing over the last two seasons. In a pre-determined strategy, Keselowski elected to keep his No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge at the front of the field, instead of dropping back in the running order for a conservative approach. By lap six he had cracked the top 10 competitors on track, despite a loose-handling condition on the Miller Lite machine when another car was positioned on the outside of the “Blue Deuce.” When the first caution flag of the day flew at lap 16, Keselowski found himself running in the sixth position. Crew chief Paul Wolfe elected to make no adjustments on the pit stop and Keselowski restarted the race in the seventh position at lap 21.

After the stop, it took less than a lap for Keselowski to enter the top five as the field continued to entertain the crowd with thrilling side-by-side racing. He kept the Miller Lite Dodge near the front of the field through green-flag pit stops at lap 58. As several other competitors fell out of the event due to engine issues, the Penske Racing power plant in the No. 2 Dodge continued to push Keselowski to the front.

As the field began to make its way down pit road around lap 100, under the green flag, the Miller Lite pit crew performed an outstanding pit stop that placed Keselowski in the second position as the stops cycled through. Keselowski, the 2009 Talladega race winner, was able to continue his restrictor-plate mastery as he rarely fell outside of the top five for the remainder of the race.

Similar to Saturday’s Nationwide Series race, a lap 185 caution period insured the race would end with an extra lap in a green-white-checkered flag finish. Keselowski restarted the race in the second position at lap 193. At the drop of the green flag, he received a strong push from the No. 18 car driven by Kyle Busch. As the two distanced themselves from the rest of the field, Keselowski broke the two-car draft and pulled away from Busch for the victory.

Penske Racing teammate, AJ Allmendinger, finished in 15th place in Sunday’s Aaron’s 499.

“At Talladega, patience is a bit of an oxymoron because you know you’ve got to go hard to win this race,” said Keselowski, who also won at Bristol earlier his year. “It was great racing. It was awesome. I think it was a perfect combination of the tandem and the pack racing. It just fit our Miller Lite Dodge perfect. It was just really strong with that combo. My guys did a great job all weekend.”

Following Sunday’s event, Keselowski and the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge team are ranked 12th in the Sprint Cup Series driver point standings and 13th in the owner point rankings.

Keselowski and the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge team will next race at Darlington Raceway on Saturday, May 12, in the Bojangles’ Southern 500. Coverage will be seen live beginning at 6:30 pm EST on FOX. The race will also be heard on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 90.

A former winner of this event, Keselowski was in position to challenge for the win in the final laps of the race before being hit from behind by the No. 43 of Michael Annett. This caused a multi-car incident that left him one lap down at the end of the event.

Keselowski began the 117-lap race from the ninth position as the Friday morning qualifying session was canceled due to rain showers on Thursday afternoon, forcing NASCAR to set the field by the rulebook and use the scheduled qualifying session for the only practice session of the weekend. When the green flag waved to start the event, Keselowski and Penske Racing teammate Sam Hornish Jr., Moved to the back of the field to save their equipment until the end of the race. The duo would make their way down pit road together for routine, yellow-flag pit stops throughout the first 85 laps of the race. Following each restart, they would maintain their position at the rear of the field.

Following a restart at lap 88, Keselowski began to work his way towards the front of the field. By lap 92, Keselowski entered the top 10 for the first time since the opening lap of the race. He was able to push Hornish to the lead with 15 laps to go, but they relinquished the lead while switching positions in the two-car tandem draft.

Despite several caution flags over the waning laps of the event, Keselowski was able to keep his Discount Tire Dodge in the top five. A caution period at lap 114 ensured the race would go over the scheduled distance. Keselowski restarted the race from the fourth position at lap 117, where he immediately began pushing the No. 54 of Kyle Busch to the lead. However, before completion of the 117th lap, Keselowski was hit from behind by Annett. This contact turned him into the No. 33 of Kevin Harvick, effectively ending the day for both drivers. Keselowski crossed the finish line in the 20th position, one lap down to the race winner, Joey Logano.

Hornish finished 12th in the Aaron’s 312 on Saturday afternoon.

Following Saturday’s result, Keselowski and the No. 22 team are ranked ninth in the NNS owner point standings.

“We did some good racing there at the end and put ourselves in position to have a shot at winning the race in the Discount Tire Dodge,” said Keselowski. “It just wasn’t meant to be. I feel pretty good about everything we did today. It just wasn’t enough. Running fourth on the restart, I felt really good working with Kyle (Busch). I thought we both had as good a shot as anybody to win the race. The 43 (Michael Annett) jammed it in there and the next thing you know, we’re wrecked. It’s just one of them deals.”

Keselowski and the No. 22 Discount Tire Dodge team will next compete at Darlington Raceway on Friday, May 11, in the VFW Sport Clips Help a Hero 200. Coverage will air live beginning at 6:30 pm EST on the ESPN2. The race will also be broadcast on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 90.
