What does the Keselowski family tradition mean to you?
My family tradition to me, it means Honor, self-sacrifice
and dedication at all times.
Who taught you to drive and how old were you?
No one really taught me how to drive per se. More or less the skills
I have developed have come from watching my Dad's successes and failures
along with my own trial and error.
Had any crazy accidents/incidents on track?
California comes to mind.
Are you and Brian (Brad's brother) competitive?
What are the main differences between the two of you?
Brian and I are super competitive at everything we do and polar opposites
from birth. I enjoy competing against him, When I win.
We see your mom and pop at races all the time. How does they feel about
watching you race?
My Mom and Dad are really good about watching the races and understanding
whats going on. I think they're understanding of the sport makes it easier
for them to watch. My mom certainly is more excitable than my Dad
You've been very quick to set up your own team - how's that going and
what
are your ambitions as an owner? Did Kevin Harvick's win in his own car
inspire you?
Watching Kevin Harvick win in his own car was really cool. I think that
is the epitome of what Nascar racing stands for and it's rise to success.
Prospering thru the tough times via hard work and dedication,
his win represents to me the realization of the American dream.
It seems like a very busy life you lead. Do you get much time to yourself?
I work really hard to ensure that I have time for myself. I seem to get the
most done that way, in fact I'm writing this right now by myself. Some
weeks it easy, others not so much.
Are you Ok living out of a suitcase?
Living out of a suitcase is the only way I've ever known. There's the
age old saying, "Home is where you make it." For
me, that home is a back pack and suitcase. I've enjoyed many sights and
sounds with my life on the road and I'm nowhere near ready to give that
up
What's the best book you've read?
I read a fair amount, not a ton, but a fair amount. Mostly
introspective reading, my favorite fiction Novel would have to The
Great Gatsby
What's on your iPod right now?
Alternative Music is my favorite Genre, although I listen to most anything
I can get my hands on. Lately, Hip-Hop.
Do you like talking to the media and being photographed all the time?
I've always enjoyed talking to the Media. It seems like a fun challenge
to me. Others may look at it differently, but I have fun trying to stay
ahead of the Media curve every week. The He said, she said can get quite
entertaining sometimes.
Chevvy or Ford?
All of my wins have been in a Chevrolet, nuff said.
What are your hopes and expectations for this season?
Goals for this year, WIN, anything and everything!
Most
memorable moment so far in your racing career?
My most memorable moments of racing are road trips to various race
tracks with my family when I was growing up. My family often drove
to whatever track we were competing at on a given weekend, from
late models, to ARCA and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
Who/What
inspires you?
I am inspired by anyone who can make the most out of the opportunities
they are given. At this time I think that Kevin Harvick personifies
this trait, as he is successful at racing and owning/operating
his own team.
Favorite
track, why?
I don't have a favorite track. My theory is that if you don't
have a favorite track, you can't have a least-favorite track.
If
you weren't a racecar driver, what would you be?
If I wasn't racing, I would most likely be an attorney
because I like to ask questions and argue.
If
you could have dinner with two people who are no longer alive,
who would they be?
That'd have to be Thomas Edison and either John F. Kennedy
or Abraham Lincoln.
Describe
yourself in 3 words or less.
Inquisitive
Nicknames?
It depends on who you ask. I probably have more than 20 or so different
nicknames.
Most
prized possession?
I don't really place a lot of value on possessions, so there
isn't one thing I hold above the rest. (When asked what he'd
take from his house if it was on fire, he responded, “"I'd
just make sure I got out OK. I wouldn't really miss anything.
I'd probably grab my coat and be irritated that I had to
clean up the debris.")
For third-generation driver Brad Keselowski, racing comes naturally.
He grew up in a home where spending time at the race shop and the
track was just a way of life. In 1998, the young Keselowski made
the transition from turning wrenches for his family-owned team,
K Automotive Motorsports, to racing.
In 2004, Keselowski ran eight races for K Automotive in the NASCAR
Craftsman Truck Series, followed by a complete schedule in 2005.
He competed on a limited basis in both the NASCAR Nationwide and
Truck Series in 2006. Keselowski started the 2007 season racing
in the Nationwide Series until his team suspended operations in
June. Later that month, he was called to drive for another team
and scored them the Bud Pole Award, leading four times throughout
the race while contending for the win. Keselowski was then hired
by JR Motorsports and debuted in the # 88 Navy Chevrolet at Chicagoland
Speedway in July 2007. In 14 starts, he scored five top 10 finishes
for the team.
Keselowski enjoyed a breakout year in 2008, finishing third in
the NASCAR Nationwide Series point standings -- the highest finish
for a Series regular. He garnered two wins (Nashville and Bristol)
and claimed the series Lap Leader Award for 2008. Keselowski was
also named the 2008 Nationwide Series Most Popular Driver, an award
voted on by the fans.
On the strength of his Nationwide Series performance, Keselowski
made his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut in late 2008. He drove
the #25 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports at Texas
Motor Speedway in November, where he started 37th and finished
19th. Two weeks later, Keselowski raced the #25 at the Homestead-Miami
Speedway in the season finale, starting 31st and finishing 23rd.
Keselowski
will be behind the wheel of the #88 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet Impala
for 18 Nationwide Series races in 2009. He'll also
drive the #25 GoDaddy.com car in the Sprint Cup Series for seven
races in 2009. Teammates Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Tony Stewart will
each drive the #5 GoDaddy.com Chevy for one race in the 2009 Nationwide
Series.

Brad
was born and bred into a strong and passionate racing family. K
Automotive is a family-run, family-owned team based in the shadow
of DaimlerChrysler World Headquarters in Auburn Hills, Mich.
Bob and Kay Keselowski are the husband-and-wife couple who oversee
team operations week-in and week-out.
Kay was the owner of the race team and spots during races for
Brian. Bob was co-owner and race team consultant. In his 23-year
racing career he has won 25 ARCA races, the 1989 ARCA championship,
more than 30 races in the NASCAR Grand American Series and one
NCTS event.
These
days Team Kesleowski is equally focused on sons Brad and Brian's
progress in the Nationwide Series.

On his time working for his family’s team- "Working
on my family’s Truck team was a special experience for
all of us. We spent many hours working in the shop together
and traveled to all of the races together as well. My recollections
of those trips are some of my favorite memories. I think I
held just about every job someone could have on a race team
during those years.
We all pitched in wherever we were needed. I think that experience
helps me appreciate things a bit more now as a driver I have a really
good understanding of what goes into getting a team to the track
to compete and I know just how much wrecking cars puts stress on
everyone involved. I also got to see just how much fun it was when
we won.
We got to experience that a couple times at Loudon, and those are
really cool memories.” July
2008
